Does anyone else in software hate the "move fast and break things" concept or is that literally just me?

I've never had a formal mentor/mentee relationship (from either side), and I'm not sure how my "story" is much different from many others in my field, but perhaps it might help someone?

My university alumni program is looking for mentors, incl remotes, and I was trying to figure out how worthwhile that might be in practice.

Q: Has anyone here ever participated in a remote mentoring relationship? I'd love to hear your thoughts on the experience.

There is debugging, and then there is debugging LCP_PCONF_ELEMENT2. If you understand that statement, I am so very sorry.

I'm sure I'm not the first person to draw this parallel, but the similarities just occurred to me today while responding to some mail.

Community SW development reminds me of a big holiday meal: a few people work tirelessly to prepare the meal (maybe as a labor of love, maybe for employment, maybe both), everyone feasts and enjoys themselves, but very few stay to cleanup afterwards.

It would appear that I now have a working cesium primary reference, woot! :} As an aside, every NTP tuning reference really needs to carry a warning. Precision time keeping is a crazy slippery slope.

Although I've had more than one person (including my wife) think I'm crazy for doing this.

If I'm working on a single problem, I personally find the ongoing repetition helps me focus and "get in the groove".

Off topic question that I've often wondered about: for those of you that listen to music while working, do you regularly find yourself looping one (or two) songs during the day?

Anyone with an old Kinesis Contoured keyboard (as in AT connector old)? How do those switches compare to the Cherry MX Brown and Red switches?

I *love* the fact that manufacturers of old test equipment provided service manuals with schematics, description of the system's operation, expected values at test points, etc. Managed to salvage a couple old, but very nice, counters this way.

I'm pretty sure if you use the phrase "in my great and unmatched wisdom" and it is not part of joke, you are doing it wrong.

FYI, it is now reported as fixed, but the updated package doesn't appear to have hit all the Rawhide mirrors yet.
