Lots of tweeting about gender diversity at tech conferences. Many men worried apparently about “lowering the bar”. Dudes, the bar is ON THE FLOOR. 25 years in the industry, some of us are damn tired of listening to white guys give the same rehashed talks over and over again.
I'm really tired of cons that insist on a gender quota. Very quickly they run out of quality talks from the "right" gender and start accepting crap talks from "quota speakers". And great talks are ignored from the wrong gender. Really, insisting on 85% males is harming everyone.
Reading this was a real nonononoyes moment.

sadly enough, I wouldn't mind attending a conference where "only" 85% of the speakers were men... ime it's usually closer to 95%
