The movement of making things in the open and open startups (e.g. ) reminds me of opening up about anxiety and depression. It defeats the paralyzing, and wrong, beliefs that we're meant to keep quiet, not to "bug" others, or that we're not the ones meant to have success.

Consuming black/white curated content on 2D screens is training more people to see the world as a flat, black/white, 2D rigid reality. Reality must fit belief/expectations. Also explains why some are anxious just from being outside (even in a calm place): Reality is too real.

The mid-life crisis gets an undeservedly bad rep. It's the first time many people face their own mortality, and accept with regret how they've squandered so much of life. It would have been better to have such a crisis earlier, but foolish to waste the opportunity none the less.

The advertising trend of micro-moments is nothing more than giving people an avenue for self-expression when they want to act on a thought or need related to your offer. Don't follow a trend, be there for your customer with genuine help in time of need, on the right channel.

I just realized 's tweets and my own (and others') like it are like Marcus Aurelius' thoughts "To Himself". Contextual, unassuming, our perspective, true to our selves. That we use Twitter is just due to today's environment and an openness to finding similar-minded people.

Depression can be paralyzing and desolate. Challenge it by remembering that emotions are instinctive reactions, they are not your whole self. They don't take away reason or the freedom to make your own decisions.
