I had one cashier ask why my card wasnt signed. I said because it doesnt matter, if a thief had my card they could forge my signature and you couldn't tell. Then she asked me to sign the card before she'd swipe it. I replied, "what if I'm the thief right now, I can sign anything"

1. Write bullshit signature 2. Dispute charge 3. VISA compares signatures and finds them to not match 4. Profit?

I found that when I first moved here. Everywhere uses contactless payment now. Last time I signed for something was back home in the UK over Christmas

have had the opposite experience while back in Aus. in the US I've never had the signature checked so I got into the habit of putting the card away immediately. in Aus they keep making me get the card back out
