Is this hydra-parser a fork of Babylon, or is this a new parser where you're using Babylon as a comparison? I don't think anyone would claim Babylon is fast, but it always helps to know what's being compared. No argument that Babylon is a mess though :P

It’s a fork. All the class methods were converted to plain functions and the JSX and Flow plugins were inlined with the rest of the source.

Bruh, tell me more.

Parser class ends up just becoming a dumb store of dynamic props. It’s then passed as an arg to all the parser methods that are just plain functions. parseExpression(parser) rather than parser.parseExpression().

I've been attempting to build an alternative to Babylon that uses composition of iterators instead of an AST.

It will hopefully have benefits that go beyond performance.
