No idea why British tourists go abroad and stay at a hotel eating British breakfast and then go out to a British pub.

(Semi-)correct, we do have significant history with British (they were quasi-colonialist and very elitist), but still, we're much more :)

I totally agree with that but it seems that we sometimes seem to bend over to the British in way that we do not to our own country.

I think Maderian’s out of necessity have to bend over backward for tourists because it drives a large part of the economy.

That’s absolutely true but it’s unfortunate to witness the daily “special treatment” that a tourist will get comparing to a fellow Madeiran.

Yeah, we received varying treatment from restaurants and shops when @Anagobarreto spoke in Portuguese.
