I just took your train of thought a bit further. I think people who make paid courses actually contribute back to the project.

Because it's more content out there about the topic, and is very similar to books (same business model). Do books harm the project?

I would make the same argument that book authors profiting off a project should be donating part of their proceeds.

I would too in case they'd be profiting loads. Paid video courses hardly are enough to make a living. I have 150+ lessons on Egghead on Rx.

Yeah, I understood that. There may be cases of "exploitation" but by generalising you can also cause harm to cases like mine.

I don't think it makes sense to say that just because you don't make much it doesn't matter.

I'd even argue that making money with courses is not exploitation, because the student is treated as a customer, with urgency and respect.
