I wonder if the people making paid courses donate any of the proceeds to the projects they're teaching.

I just took your train of thought a bit further. I think people who make paid courses actually contribute back to the project.
Putting additional support burden by increasing consumers isn't a very sustainable contribution model.

Is not necessarily additional burden. Because yes some will come for support because they now know more. But because of that many others ...
