Heroku is a rip off. What are alternatives for easily deploying a simple Node web app?

@rauchg See? You need to be more proactive about explaining that inactive servers are frozen. -
I believe the workaround is to use the "now scale" command to set the minimum instance to 1 (default is 0)

FWIW, I am experiencing the exact same thing with the $15 plan. My site is only CSS and HTML, and takes about ~15s to load.

That's on a cold first load. Subsequent site loads are very fast after. This leads me to believe it might be a cache thing, but am not sure.

Service providers intentionally caps the speed according to which plan you use.
