This is for real ES2015 btw. Using babel (at least by default) this won't throw an error...but I think you can opt-in more strict compliance

very nice! any background on why this isn't default, since there's es2015-loose ?
It introduces a lot of runtime overhead since the TDZ detection isn't prefect and redundant checks are added when Babel isn't sure.

that makes sense. obviously now curious why TDZ detection couldn't be perfect haha, but don't care enough to try. thanks broheim

callFn(() => console.log(aVar)); let aVar = "foo"; is an example. Can't know statically if "callFn" runs its callback sync or async.
