If I'm not mistaken, npm5 makes yarn obselete: npm5 has fast install, lock file (even better than yarn's), plus nothing extra to install.

Yarn isn't some mandate from the top and there's no illuminati conspiracy going on. Yarn was started by a single engineer (me) and there's
literally no value in any data that could be collecte. Nothing is collected except an aggregate number on total downloads.
