Then I misunderstood the original "secure alternative npm" mission statement. Frankly a bit worried about the embrace-and-extend approach :(
The "mission statement" has always been "a better npm". Why make Yarn limited to npm feature set? Npm doesn't own package.json

To avoid lock-in? IMO yarn.lock and custom package.json properties are fair game, but custom dependencies syntax cause fragmentation.
