Note: If you use this feature then it's going to break for users who use npm. Use it wisely and only at your company if Yarn is mandated.

Useful for when you want multiple versions of libraries in a project. eg. `yarn add lodash3@npm:lodash@^3 lodash4@npm:lodash@^4`.

I'd love this feature, but I'm worried that it uses package.json syntax that's incompatible with the npm cli. When did yarn depart?
-
It's had that feature since way before public release. Well over a year.

That is brilliant! Is there a package.json config for it as well?
-
`yarn add` modifies your package.json for you. The equivalent is {dependencies: {"fake-package": "npm:left-pad"}}

what are the use cases for this feature? I guess you can't alias over an existing package e.g calling react vue?

Does it persists in yarn.lock as well? I mean keep persisted for other devs would be good idea - 1 more reply
