Complexity does not necessarily mean loss of speed /me stares at JS VMs
I meant more about the algorithmic complexity and amount of recursion. So much indirection there's very little places you can safely cache.

The algo complexity is really only found in the graph traversal. You've seen the code.

depends on what you are cache-ing; path resolution, parser results, scope linkage, etc. can all be done

but even then, shared memory / multi-worker probably will be a bigger win
