Allows you to modify package.json then run `yarn install` and it'll just skip the deps you don't have installed and generate a new lockfile
Also we're currently working on a workspaces feature for monorepos (like @lernajs which I started) and the Yarn lockfile format allows...

you to have a bunch of different projects all share the same lockfile since it's just a flat mapping that you "seed" with deps from pkg.json

@lernajs did not depend on the root being in a repo... resolving the repo per package

that way I could manage my workspace folder just like a monorepo but still have independent repos for my packages
