Do you have any references or can you go into more detail? I'm not aware of the differences.

try running an install with 0.17 and 0.25. You rely on the algorithm, which varies by version (or other bits?) for reproducible builds.

at version boundaries that happen to make big changes, people on the same team will have wildly different tree structures + "same versions"
