I agree and petitioned Chromium devs to support this at least in the DevTools console/repl. Supremely useful.

I really don't like top level await, tbh. the benefit is it saves from typing a 16-char iife wrapper, which is just not that big a problem
Meh, you can use that argument for most of ES6.
Probably, yeah, but we're talking specifically about top-level await here. Most es6 constructs don't have same disparity in cost vs benefit
