Just my 2 cents: these kind of things should simply ignored as pointless. Discussing them here just gives them more prominence they diserve
Ignoring problems is a good way to change nothing and just lets the problem get worse

I get ur point, but u can still address problems w/o giving bad ideas free publicity, e.g. by contacting the author privately first.

Then the author stops, and people who have seen the talk propagate the same things and it spreads and gets even worse.
