I hate functions as React children so much. Just use an attribute. So much cleaner and you're not messing with types.

react-virtualized uses child functions for some of the decorator components and it works nicely with Preact.

Glad I warned you away from it!
Core components don't use it though, just some of the decorators. You'll be fine.
