      @sebmck @mikesherov @thealphanerd i'm new here, but seems like CST : AST :: CSS : DOM. should be in a separate tree that references the AST.

      @jedschmidt @mikesherov @thealphanerd when you mutate the AST you need to somehow translate those changes to the CST which is very difficult

      @jedschmidt @mikesherov @thealphanerd you'd have to resync the separate CST whenever an AST mutation was possible which is really slow

      @jedschmidt @mikesherov @thealphanerd i don't think the HTML/CSS analogy is quite accurate. AST/CST have a different relationship.

          @jedschmidt @sebmck @mikesherov @thealphanerd As you said, in HTML you define ids and cls to reference from CSS. In AST, you don't have it.
