      @flowtype @babeljs Babel already handles JSX (even for React itself) and knows how to strip (most?) Flow type annotations. Just saying...

      @kpuputti I originally tried to start with esprima (pre-babel), but OOB/serialization showed perf problems :/ @flowtype @babeljs

      @lbljeffmo @kpuputti The parser isn't even a bottleneck to full type check support anyway so it doesn't really matter what's used.

      @sebmck the parser itself wasn't really the most obvious problem -- it was the machinery to serialize/unserialize interprocess @kpuputti

      @lbljeffmo Ah yeah. I was more referring to the notion of Flow somehow being held back by the parser which @kpuputti seemed to allude to.

      @sebmck @lbljeffmo Only speculating, but nothing can really keep up with Babel with the current speed.

      @kpuputti Eh, I could just stop working on Babel due to burnout, get busy with work, or get hit by a bus. [1/2] @lbljeffmo

      @kpuputti You're also underestimating the different complexities involved in something like Flow vs Babel… @lbljeffmo

      @sebmck @lbljeffmo Btw, do you have any wild ideas where the new type inference in Babel could be used for in the future?

      @kpuputti Sounds like a q for @sebmck. Trustworthy type info could contribute to some pretty neat AOT optimizations

      @lbljeffmo @kpuputti I allude to it a bit in https://twitter.com/sebmck/status/607752778291789825 … with the type stuff I'm working on atm.

          @lbljeffmo @kpuputti Type info is going to be necessary in the future as harder to transpile features are added so you can do it practically

          @lbljeffmo @kpuputti Value types are one. You could compile binary expressions etc that involve them to get proper semantics.
