@sebmck question: any chance that babel might output a flag that indicates if it did any real transformations on the file or not?

@sebmck IOW, if i pass it an ES5 file, and the only diffs would just be whitespace or whatever, just a flag that says "transformed:false"

@getify At a minimum files are prepended with "use strict" since module code is assumed.

@sebmck but a single true/false flag could be tracked during parsing, in theory right?

@getify Well Babel can still, and does, transform non-ES2015+ nodes.

@sebmck whatever transforms babel does, i want a build tool to be able to know easily/efficiently if any transforms happened or not.

@sebmck the fact that things like "use strict" are inserted, and perhaps whitespace or comments tweaked, makes comparison hard.

@getify @sebmck I'm curious what sorts non-ES6 to non-ES6 transformations are done?
