tbh they do deserve props for *really* knowing how for-loops work.
My brain completely missed the leading `for`. I feel like I can probably guess the sort of libraries where this sort of code appeared. It's code golfing and human minification as a development practice.

Yeah, I completely missed that leading 'for' as well! How do you make a 'for' loop with no parens and no conditions?

You don’t need a block in a for statement. It’s the same as an if, you can put any single statement after. If you have a single semicolon then it’s an empty statement.
