Tend to agree and disagree here. Had cats my whole life. From inside and outside. Quality of life for the cat (not by busy road or in a city) was better. However environment wise yes is a problem.

You are only cutting lifespan if the area you live is not suitable for it. Take South Africa where I lived. Most people have big gardens. Or open pieces of land in general. No issue for a cat to do as it pleases.
Do with as they please, meaning kill local wildlife. I do agree that it’s safer outdoors for a cat on a farm or in a very rural area than the suburbs but it still doesn’t justify the other negative effects.

Never justified the environmental factor. Just debating that living inside or outside is dependent where they live.
