Is it unreasonable for open source projects to expect Windows contributors to have bash installed?

As a windows user, this says to me “you don’t *really* support Windows”
What would you use instead? A scripting language? Have an equivalent powershell/bat for all shell scripts?

It depends on the specific kind of project. As a maintainer, this has caused me to move away from all platform-specific scripts, because the duplication maintenance burden is so high.

If I were making a JS project, I’d write the script in JS. If it were a rust project, I’d consider something like cargo xbuild. If it were ruby, all ruby instead.
