Is it unreasonable for open source projects to expect Windows contributors to have bash installed?

Doesn't MacOS come with zsh now? They used to ship a ridiculously old version of Bash (meaning that newer scripts would sometimes fail on MacOS) but I think they switched to zsh at some point.

Why does bash need to be such an integral part of the project though? I understand it depends on language, but to focus on JavaScript for a minute, to my understanding the differences can be worked around

Sometimes when you're developing cross-platform on Unix systems, its nice being able to write a bash script & have it run without worrying if the user has bash installed. This argument was stronger before Apple decided to make ZSH the default shell
