One thing I couldn't tell from the article: it says Rome is a from-scratch complete toolchain, and that it typechecks. Does it reimplement all of TypeScript as well, or is that one of the places it's not actually a from-scratch complete reimplementation?
There’s currently no usable type checker but it has a different architecture than TypeScript, more similar to Fow with a type graph, so it will likely work differently (hopefully for the better, less explicit annotations, more powerful inference etc)
interesting - do you expect it will interop with third party ts/flow types? or would this have to be a standalone type ecosystem?
It wouldn't introduce new syntax. It would be a new type system built on top of TS/Flow syntax that would even allow interop between them.
