I am struggling to reconcile my feelings into something constructive, but many have asked me to be more vocal, and I feel I have an obligation to be. Speaking out publicly is the first step, although it is still the bare minimum.

If you're a Facebook employee on Twitter then you shouldn't be ashamed to express your opinion (whether you agree or oppose). Yes, silence is an implicit approval.

Had some replies to this so want to clarify. Does not matter your intentions, or if you feel you are in a position to speak out. It matters about how you are perceived.

Maybe you've encountered people more generous than I have. But the trend I've seen, as evidenced by the engagement in these tweets, is that, yes, people do assume you support major actions of your employer, and the onus is on you to speak out and prove otherwise.

If you don't want to, or can't, then you'll have to deal with and accept the criticism and assumptions people will make.

Clarification: This is not an exhaustive list. Ad policy decisions are not the only thing I am ashamed and disagree with.

I agree with you on this. The ads policy makes me uncomfortable on so many levels. Facebook doesn’t want to decide what’s true, except in every other case it does. It now decides who a politician is. It now makes money by knowingly spreading lies.

I'm with you on this. In the six years I've been at the company, this is one of the worst decisions, and one of the decisions I've seen a large number of employees object to.

Also, choosing to feature Breitbart in the News tab. Something I'm still trying to fight against internally at FB.
