This is such an odd moment. Facebook is a strange company. On one hand, they produce amazing open source, and have some really amazing people working for them that I would love to work with, and I have worked with. I don't have any sort of high horse to get on, so I don't plan to talk shit to FB engineers for this. But holy shit I hope I don't ever again see them out and about on Twitter moralizing against company XYZ for signing some ICE contract, or similar.

You’re asking me to quit or somehow change Facebook’s problematic internal processes and public image, before I criticise other companies?

I can criticize companies without shitting on the employees. They aren’t the same. I obviously have empathy for them, I’m literally in the same position.

How can you criticize other companies with a straight face when the one you've worked at for literally years is much much much much much much much worse.

Straight face? I am the first to acknowledge how complicit I am and the negative impact Facebook is having in many areas. Do you actually perceive me to be smug on a high horse?
