When Lerna changed their license to forbid usage from ICE collaborators a lot of people got angry because it was no longer free software" and was "mixing politics and sofrware". Big fuck you to those people. Would love to see a more formalized version of that license.
I respect the right of anyone to restrict the usage of the product of their free labor. I also object to your premise since there are laws specifically designed to prevent that sort of discrimination being enforced

The authors obviously have the right to use whatever license they want. Some of those choices are better than others, that’s the thing to argue about. I think open source is a huge force for good, non-standard license means getting lawyers involved and diminish that benefit.
