Iceland is 1800km from London. Menlo Park is 8600km. Halfway would be more like New York.

As somebody who doesn't care to go outside much I honestly prefer Iceland 100x above any other option mentioned in this thread, so far. Also good for the kids. They learn a different language. English is getting a little old.

If you don't want to go outside then you could probably live literally anywhere. In fact the US would be better since you can get so much delivered. "English is getting a little old" is an interesting statement.

We went to Iceland on our honeymoon. We don't care about take out, at all. My wife prefer to cook above going out / takeout. To the higher level point underneath; sure Iceland imports most things. At the same time people have lived there for quite some time and seem to be fine.

I don't rate the livability of a place from a single visit. I've actually visited twice. Food is just one thing you can get delivered. People have lived on every single land mass in the world, doesn't instantly qualify somewhere as a desirable place to live.
