I lived there for 3 years and my friends collectively had their phones stolen about a dozen times. Moped theft is a real concern, and it's not the only way theft can happen. I know of many stories, including from FB employees, about backpacks being stolen from their feet.
Also just want to point out that "doesn't happen to me" isn't a good response when someone points out something problematic. Unless the rate is 100% then of course there's going to be outliers.

That's fair. I was actually more proud of that fact more than anything else. I always walked in the street with my hands cramped around my phone. Dreaded mopeds. But I also know it could still have easily been me. Except it was Rick. Of course.
