Even if you disagreed with the funding experiment, I don't know how anyone can support npm banning ads. npm inc is profiting off of the work of others and denying them the opportunity to explore funding avenues. This sets a bad precedent.https://www.zdnet.com/article/npm-bans-terminal-ads/ …

This is my takeaway as well - it’s a strange line in the sand to draw while standing in an arid desert.

ads are malware

Stop arguing about the content of the code! That’s not the point! we should allow ANY code (except for the bad code that I don’t like)

Mmmmyeah, but isn't the distinction between malware and ads just as arbitrary? How and where does one draw that line?

Malware is any software intentionally designed to cause damage to a computer, server or computer network. Not interchangeable with Adware -- and I wouldn't call a single add during post install to make software (have) Adware.

Well, we have all opted into a centralized platform. We really need a shared decentralized alternative where users are more free. I am getting tired of the arbitrary rules of these platforms. Let us choose and make mistakes and be free!
