It seems to me like certain drugs could give a similar experience to (trauma-induced) dissociation; why _wouldn’t_ it make sense to call it the same thing? (I ask this naively as someone who neither dissociates nor does drugs…)

I've seen the term disassociation used where depersonalization and derealization would have been much more accurate, especially with illicit drug symptoms.
