Does Australia have any negatives as a country to live in besides giant spiders and seriously vemomous snakes? 
The Australian government is incredibly ecologically backwards. There is a heavy reliance on coal, and the environment is generally ignored. There is a strong belligerence towards renewable energy. Australia has also treated the native indigenous people extremely poorly.
I feel like I oversold the ecological issues rather than on the social ones. Australia has a long history of xenophobia. Refugees are detained by boat and held indefinitely in detention centres. The aboriginal people have been marginalised for a long time.
Also I know exactly what are you talking about bcs Slovakia was voted as most racism country of the EU... There is also absolutely no tolerance to minorities or refugees :/ Its sad...
Well, you should see Slovakia then... But as you said every country has its positives and negatives and we have to live our lives somewhere 
and I totally agree its hard to be proud when we can see those things.
