Why do people give a platform to those they disagree with? If someone says something overtly ridiculous and harmful, why broadcast it? Am I missing something that somehow makes the situation better?

Why is the platform set up in such a way that you cannot differentiate between a positive boost and a negative one?
Read my replies. I am not using the same definition of platform as you.

I meant it more like a twitter clone that lets users differentiate between a positive and a negative retweet and shows positive retweets only by default could somewhat mitigate the issue. (a very stupid design for illustrative purposes, i'm sure its possible to do much better)

Twitter already provides that in the form of quote tweeting with a comment.
