This seems obvious, but OpenCollective projects have zero accountability to spend their money wisely. If you're going to donate, please investigate and see if it's something you actually want to support.

It occurs to me now that we're probably thinking of significantly different projects. Most of mine have been 95%+ single maintainer. I imagine this is legit different for larger projects (e.g. Babel).
Oh yeah, I think the dynamic changes significantly, especially the more money and people involved. The burden is definitely way higher with expenses paying tens of thousands to only a few people. With smaller projects or small team, I think there's stronger implied trust.

the current discussion focuses on "future spending", but there is also a legitimate case of withdrawing money in account of past work, but yeah - generally this case applies to smaller projects (or newly opened for funding)
