This is an interesting topic, because who decides if it's "wise" or not? Deciding to support an OSS project doesn't mean you should get a say in how the funds are spent, does it? I don't think so.

I would consider funds to be spent wisely if there are concrete guidelines for calculating payouts, rather than guestimating hours and rates. Also processes for those outside of the "core team" to take money out rather than being it a secret club.

And honestly I think its okay. Eg: as long as we keep getting value out of Webpack, Sokra can buy a truck of ice cream with the money if he wants to.
