Because the idea it’s so outlandishly American, which is how I immagine Ken (having never met him). I don’t see this as toxic masculinity but more from a humor of the American stereotype perspective
I don't think I've ever seen Ken fetishize American military culture. I would consider it different than normal American patriotism.
