America has made me hate the words caramel and mocha. Never have I experienced a place so divided on the basic pronunciation of words.

Like matcha (which is different than a mocha)

I once by accident ordered a big cup of matcha with milk/whipcream when I actually meant mocha. English isn't my native, so I subconsciously read "cha" like "chocolate" or "chandelier", not like "coffee".
