> despite being launched to look very much like one We went out of our way to make it to not look like that https://techcrunch.com/2016/10/11/facebook-partners-with-google-others-to-launch-a-new-javascript-package-manager/ … I wrote Yarn while employed at Facebook, it's not clear how it would have been released without that association.

Wait, you're using _that_ article to illustrate "went out of our way to make it not look like a Facebook launch"? Really? It literally says "Facebook today launched Yarn, a new package manager for JavaScript. " and doesn't include any pushback from you.

I won't even complain about the rather uh... inaccurate... descriptions of the technical differences, and just chalk that up to tech press. Or the "npm wouldn't take our patches, we're sure!" sentiment. Still, it set the stage for the low-grade irritation with y'all.

There was some FUD at the release, I have never denied that.
