React copied at least two jQuery missteps. The first is the "attroperties" mashup of HTML attributes and DOM properties. This gets you e.g. "className" but "aria-alert". jQuery set it right with 1.6 but it broke code. It will probably require pain in React too.

The second misstep is to layer its own event system and names over the browser's. For example, there is already a very clear meaning for the DOM "change" event and it isn't fired each time a key was pressed. jQuery is still dealing with the implications of its event layer.

React doesn’t just target the DOM. It’s important to note when DOM expectations aren’t aligned, especially regarding events.
