Dan can you also come up with a new F-name for the whole react native rearchitecture?
Fabric is only a part of it, and not having an official name for the whole thing confuses devs

instead of Bridge, we made a Float?

Uhhh I like your thinking... Soooo - we won't have a bridge, and things will be aware of each other. Any words that could describe this direct connection/awareness that starts with F?

"React Native Fusion"

Fusion is already taken.. (React Fusion is an experimental attempt to use prepack to compile away React. If you squint, it resembles Svelte)

Your description for Fusion is too specific. It's not dead. Also considering that the name prepack was already used for another FB project, it doesn't mean it can't be repurposed.

@sebmck, are there any more details or references you can provide for React Fusion? Curious what else it could theoretically be used for1 reply 0 retweets 0 likes
Your definition fixed it to a certain implementation rather than the goal of just "React compiler optimizations". There's not a lot to share but @sebmarkbage @trueadm would know more.

Ah, good point. “Compiling away” React isn’t the goal. There are several performance goals that might require different compiler techniques: small bundle, fast TTI, faster runtime, etc

Replying to @EricVicenti @sebmck and
The Prepack approach mostly had to do with compiling away JS code that prevents us from optimizing further but that didn't really end up with the right cost-benefit tradeoffs. The next approach will more embrace code staying closer to its original form.
