There's a bunch of things it does. There's special-cases for some common mistakes. There's also things like: When the parser expects a certain token, and it doesn't match then it will tag a diagnostic, and then continue on as normal.

Wouldn't errors early in the file cause cascading errors further down the file? Those of which are basically false positives?

Depends on how it works. My implementation puts holes for invalid syntax, but doesn’t skip over it. It will eventually get consumed or skipped completely by other parser methods. Errors are deduped by line. I can definitely imagine bad scenarios with a ton of errors...

I’d love to have this in formatters like Prettier! It’s disorienting to lose your formatting and have to read your code differently just because the padding found a syntax error.
