I'm interested in this topic: It might not be an issue for svelte, but I've recently come aware that a high percentage of npm modules bundle their deps, thus killing any option of deduping them during delivery. Hyping no-deps seems like a dangerous pathway
What about tools that roll their own modules instead of using npm ones? Similarly everything is bundled together but the intent is different. Would you consider them to be equally problematic?

The problematic aspect never arises from a single module, only once they are composed into larger system. And this is really just am issue for code that gets shipped to clients. Bundling should always be a latest-possible build step, and one should never have to bundle a bundle.
