I hate shorthand CLI flags: $ tar xvf $ ls -la $ rm -rf All of them. I hate it.

Inevitably you reach a naming conflict and can't use the first letter of the "long" argument name. Then there's capitalization ambiguity, the shorthand being the second letter of the argument etc. How does anyone remember?

Nobody has mentioned it yet, but I've also seen -? used for help instead of -h. There's a few "standards" but everyone just makes their own.
