Rome was a daemon-by-default, then @sebmarkbage convinced me otherwise. Now it’s opt-in. Focusing all my performance work on making the non-daemon fast though, minimising initial overhead.

A worker is also spun up inside the CLI process. So for small projects you’ll only ever have a single process. Workers will scale proportionate to the size of your codebase, and are done as files are requested.
