If you’re writing validation code, please never make it output “Incorrect foo” or “Invaid bar”. Pleeeaaase just tell me what I need to fix, and why it’s invalid.

I think the problem is with the messages, not the validation itself. Rather than an obscure ‘The address was invalid’, it’s suggested that you add additional details about what format is expected. This way, the user won’t have to guess.
Yeah exactly. When you throw or produce a validation error, you have all the information there to make the error more meaningful. It’s barely any additional effort.
