Apple offering free engraving on the new Airpods is smart. If you get it then you’re reducing the resale value of your Airpods, and making it less likely someone will buy it.

Gross, I won't even use my wife's airpods, let alone a strangers.

I’ve seen people selling off-white coloured used Airpods and almost threw up. Although I guess if you’re low income, selling used Airpods to get cash is important, and buying them used may be the only chance some get to own them.

I was under the poverty line for a while with a kid, still would not have used somebody else's filthy airpods
(and definitely wouldn't have bought them in the first place, toilet paper was priority #1)1 reply 0 retweets 5 likes -

I grew up in a single parent household, with 5 siblings, and living entirely off of social security. I would have picked used Airpods over no Airpods. Just clean them

But you wouldn’t take some with engraving?

Sure I would. My original tweet was about something different though. Engraved Airpods are devalued for the owner.

I've never had an apple product last long enough to be resellable anyway
