Apple offering free engraving on the new Airpods is smart. If you get it then you’re reducing the resale value of your Airpods, and making it less likely someone will buy it.

I was under the poverty line for a while with a kid, still would not have used somebody else's filthy airpods
(and definitely wouldn't have bought them in the first place, toilet paper was priority #1)
I grew up in a single parent household, with 5 siblings, and living entirely off of social security. I would have picked used Airpods over no Airpods. Just clean them 
Low income earners deserve some luxuries.

Sure I would. My original tweet was about something different though. Engraved Airpods are devalued for the owner.

I bought used AirPods from my friend. $90 cheaper than new. A little bit of ear wax that was easy to clean.

In fact, most of the time when you have low income having an object possessed by the well earning classes is a way to tell others "well, I'm succeeding in life !". Used or not is not in the equation here :)
